-----------------------

The Training and Recruitment Team has been busy recently: we ran a survey in May/June 2016 to find out what you would like in the way of ringing training (read more below), and in the meantime we’ve organised a series of one-day courses (more details below).

Upcoming Ringing Courses

The Training and Recruitment Team has decided to trial a new type of ringing course. In the past a 2-day training course has been run in October, but feedback from course participants indicated that people would rather have more frequent, shorter courses. From June onwards, we are organising a series of one-day courses, taking place every other month on different days of the week and around the county. These will run from 10 am to 4 pm each day; the first few are as follows – more will be arranged after the survey results have come in!

Places on these courses must be booked in advance; contact the person listed below. The fee is £10 for each course.

NEW!!
Wednesday 21 June 2017, 10-3.30pm: Ringing up and down in peal at Chailey (tbc) and Danehill (contact Mary Burr - This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ).
Our last ringing up and down course was oversubscribed so we are running another one!. It will be led by Graham Hills and take place at Chailey (tbc) from 10.00 to 12.00 and ringing up and down in peal at Danehill 2.00 to 3.30.  Pub or picnic lunch. Cost is £10 including tea/coffee and cake.
Please let Mary Burr ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) know if you would like a place (booking essential).
We also need helpers. Any volunteers please?

Thursday 11 August 2016, 10-4pm: Kaleidoscope at Hailsham (contact Christine Baldock –  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it )

Kaleidoscope ringing is a series of exercises made within two places. It helps to understand “making places” and “dodging”. Once the basic manoeuvres have been mastered then they can be combined to form more advanced and complicated exercises. To get the most from the course the student will need to be able to handle a bell competently in rounds. If you are just beginning to plain hunt or learn a basic method these exercises can be most helpful. If all goes well the session will end with a Mexican Wave!

Saturday 8 October 2016: Calling Call Changes (Down) at Seaford (contact Mary Burr –  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it )

WHAT ARE CALL CHANGES? I am sure most of you know but do you know there are a number of different ways to call these. There is no right or wrong way but the cardinal sin is to mix them up in the same set of changes. The Call Change session on October 8 is to practice, and learn to call DOWN. There will be another course later in the series to call UP. If you learn both ways then you won’t be caught out when attending a meeting or another tower's practice!

Monday 5 December 2016: Doubles Methods at Lower Beeding (contact Steph Pendlebury -  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it )

Monday 13 February 2017: Doubles Methods at Seaford (contact Mary Burr - This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or 01323 325914)

Can you already Plain Hunt? Are you ready to move on ringing methods inside?

Why not come along to our friendly and relaxed course, which is run by an experienced tutor?
There will be plenty of helpers so you will have a steady band around you.
Just let us know which method(s) you’d like to concentrate on, e.g. Plain Bob or Grandsire. The exact course content is flexible, depending on the learners' requirements.
