Let the train take the strain and Join the Western District on this Saturday 31st May, for an outing in the East End of London visiting towers in the Docklands area. This is an all day event, all by public transport!. Here are the final details. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. so that we can look out for you!! It is also fine to just turn up and to turn up to as many or as few towers as you wish! We do need to give a donation to each tower so please bring some cooins with you - the more people there are - the less each will need to pay! Look forward to seeing you there! TRANSPORT DETAILS
If travelling into Victoria take the underground to Tower Hill, the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) station at Tower Gateway is a few minutes walk away. If arriving at London Bridge station it is easiest to walk to Tower Gateway.
On the DLR take a train bound for Beckton, alight at Limehouse station. Cross over and walk along Basin Approach and then turn left to go up to Commercial Road and then turn right, St Anne’s church is a little further along on the lefthand side.

Retrace your steps after to ringing and head back to Limehouse DLR station. You will need a Lewisham bound train and travel to Island Gardens. Walk to the main road, A1206, turn left and a short distance is Christ Church, Isle of Dogs on the corner of Glenaffric Avenue.

Walk back to the A1206, and find bus stop C5, you need to catch the D7 bus going north. Stay on the bus until Poplar High Street, Blackwall. When you have got off the bus walk west along Poplar High Street before turning right into Bazely Street; you should see the church infront of you.

After ringing exit onto Newby Place and walk to All Saint’s DLR station. Eventually you will need a train bound for Tower Gateway, this may entail a change at Poplar DLR station. Travel until reaching Shadwell DLR station and exit onto Shadwell Place. When you reach the junction with Watney Street turn left and walk along it until you reach the junction with Cable Street. Turn right and follow Cable Street to its junction with Dellow Street, keep on this street as it wiggles round until you reach St George in the East church.

Return to Shadwell DLR station and travel to Tower Gateway. Come out of the station and walk north up Minories for 40 metres when you should turn left into America Square. Follow this for a short distance until you reach Cross Wall turn left, when you reach the junction with Cooper’s Row continue straight ahead into Crutched Friars which then leads into Hart Street, the church is on the left.
4.50 – 5.30. Hart Street, St Olave. 8, 11.3.20
Then it is time to make your way back to the railway station and head home.
