Event Description:

Eastern District (open to all districts) A21 Road Trip (dipping into Kent!)

Current Status: We have four towers of the five confirmed.

The ringing will be for anyone who can ring rounds unassisted upwards, so if you are a new member, please don't feel you won't be of a good enough standard to come out and enjoy the day - it can seem daunting ringing at a different tower for the first time, but there will be plenty of people about who will be able to support and encourage you.

Lunch is by own arrangement, but there are a number of pubs, cafes and teashops in the area, as well as Scotney Castle at Lamberhurst.  In the local are you can also visit Bewl Water and Bedgebury Pinetum, both of which which have paid parking.

The bells we will be ringing:
  • Frant - We start on the edge of Sussex at the church of St Alban with it's 8cwt 6 bells, which are all 17th and 18th century.
  • Wadhurst - Warmed up nicely at Frant, we head to St Peter and St Paul where the 8 bells consist of four 20th century bells on the front and 17th, 18th and 19th century bells on the back
  • Lamberhurst - Now it's time for some trespassing into Kent, where Lamberhurst church stands at the top of the village with its 6 bells, with one 1925 recast bell supported by 5 from 1779.
  • Ticehurst - After lunch and possibly feeling a bit sleepy(!) it's time to get energised with the 6 bells of Ticehurst, which are all from the same founder in 1771.
  • Hawkhurst - Hopefully the post lunch weariness has gone away, because we are back in Kent and we need someone to ring up the 23cwt tenor in this mixed age ring of 8.  Don't worry, the front end is only 6cwt!
I'm looking forward to meeting some of you on the day, if you are coming and I don't already know, please drop me a message via e-mail, text or WhatsApp (07961 166069) to let me know you are coming, and also the level you'd like to ring at (ie round, call changes, Plain Hunt, Surprise Major etc).  It isn't mandatory by any means, but it just helps me plan a bit.
