DESCRIPTION:<p>The Northern District Summer Outing will take place on<em>&nbsp;</em>Sat
 urday 2nd August. Ringing will be rounds onwards - all welcome!</p><p>This 
 year's outing will feature a set of towers in the Surrey area, as we ventur
 e across the border! Confirmed details:</p><p><strong>10:00-10:45 -&nbsp;</
 strong><strong>Rudgwick</strong>, St Nicolas: 8 bells, 14-0-5cwt in F (Chur
 ch Street, Rudgwick, RH12 3EB)<br />An antique-clockwise peal of 8 rung fro
 m a gallery. A mixed bag of bells cast around London, except for the two tr
 ebles that were cast at the Eijsbouts <br /><br /><strong>11:15-12:00 Ockle
 y</strong>, St Peter &amp; St Paul: 6 bells, 13-2-4cwt in F#; ground floor 
 (Coles Lanes, Ockley, RH5 5LS)<br />A peal of 6 with a bit of a draft. Orig
 inally a complete 6 by Richard Phelps in 1701, the treble was recast by Whi
 techapel in 1981. In the same year, the back 5 by Phelps were re-tuned 4 be
 lls were recorded in the church in 1552. <br /><br /><strong>12:00-13:30</s
 trong> - <strong>lunch</strong>:&nbsp;own arrangements</p><p><strong>13:30-
 14:15</strong> - <strong>Capel</strong>, St John the Baptist: 6 bells, 6-3-
 7cwt in A (The Street, Capel, RH5 5JZ)<br />A charming peal of 6 by a mixed
  bag of founders. One of which is by Richard Eldridge of Woking. The bells 
 were overhauled by Mears &amp; Stainbank in 1951 that included the recastin
 g of one of the two Eldridge be<strong>lls. </strong></p><p><strong>14:30 -
  15:15</strong> - <strong>Newdigate</strong>, St Peter: 6 bells, 8-0-1cwt i
 n Bb;&nbsp;ground floor (Church Lane, Newdigate, RH5 5DL)<br />All 6 by Tho
 mas I Mears were recast by the Whitechapel Bellfoundry in 1969. Hung in a l
 ovely wooden tower and cozy ringing room.&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><em><spa
