The Eastern District Practice this month is on the 5th Saturday due to the bank holiday weekend.
14:30-15:30 - East Hoathly (6, 9cwt, Ground Floor)
With no regular band or practice, this tower is not often rung at, except for a monthly service, which is supported by ringers from other towers. The bells date from 1723 (1-4) and 1876 (5-6). Like others in the area, it has a C16 tower and has the Pelham Buckle in the stonework. The rest of the church is mostly Victorian, following rebuilding work.
16:00-17:00 - Hellingly (6, 12cwt)
It has been almost three years since we last held a practice at Hellingly so it is nice to return. The church is currently closed for refurbishment works but the ringing chamber is still accessible. We will be required to not stray from the authorised area, due to the nature of the works.The bells date from 1828 to 1950 and have "Hastings Stays".
