Roy Osborne, a member of the ringing band at Hellingly, sadly passed away in early January, aged 85. Having learnt to ring at Hellingly as a teenager, Roy started ringing again some fifty years later; his favourite bell was the tenor. He was a popular, enthusiastic and dependable member of the team and will be sadly missed. Roy was also a former steeple-keeper and regularly wound up the church clock.
