Death of Tony Jones (Horsham ringer)

It is with great sadness that we report the death of Tony Jones on 11th February 2019. He was a long-standing member of the Horsham band.

Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.

Tony's funeral will be at St Mary's Horsham on Tuesday 10th March 2020: half-muffled ringing from 10:15am, service 11am followed by reception in the Causeway barn afterwards.

Death of Alan Sawkins (Northiam ringer)

It is with great sadness that we report the death of Alan Sawkins on 28th November 2019. He was a ringer at Northiam.

Our thoughts are with his family at this time.

Alan’s funeral will be held on 14:30 on Thursday 19th December, at St Mary’s church Northiam.

Death of Joy Davies (Midhurst ringer)

We are sad to report the death of Joy Davies on Thursday, 5th December a long standing ringer from Midhurst. Joy was the widow of Marcus Davies, the Tower Captain for many years, who died earlier this year.

A memorial service for Joy will be held at Midhurst Parish Church (SS Mary Magdalene & Denys) on Monday 23rd December at 2:00pm. The bells will be open for ringing both before and after the service.

Death of Eric Wilkins (Chailey ringer)

We regret to announce the death (on 23 Oct 2019) of Eric Wilkins of Chailey, one of the Association’s members with over 50 years’ service. Eric rang in Lewes, Barcombe and more recently Chailey where he was a great support to the local band.

The funeral is at 2pm on Monday 18 November at St Peter's Chailey. Please come along to ring from 1.15pm. Margaret and the family would be pleased if you would stay for refreshments in the church after the service.

No flowers, donations will be welcome for the chosen charities British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research. (cheques should be made payable to ‘R A Brooks & Son Donation Account’ and sent to R A Brooks & Son, Ravenoak, Allington Road, Newick, BN8 4NB).

Death of Richard Harrison (Chichester ringer)

It is with great sadness that we report the death of Richard Harrison on 8th September 2019. He was formerly a member of the Chichester Cathedral Guild of Ringers, Sussex County Association, Essex Association, and of the College Youths.

He had not rung for several years, having been struck with osteo-arthritis and Alzheimer’s, and had been in a nursing home for a long time.
