Ringing Courses & Workshops

The Training and Recruitment Team works to arrange ringing courses throughout the year and to provide special Two Day Courses held annually in October, which provide in intensive training opportunities in a range of topics. We are always keen to engage with ringers to hear what courses they would like to see in the coming year, so please contact us with your ideas.

Two - Day Courses

The cost of the following two day courses will be £30 for adult members, payable on Day 1 of the course.
The cost for junior members is £5 which is refundable after the completion of the course.

27th and 28th October 2017 - Two Day Course - Developing Method Ringing Skills

This course is designed for those people who want to progress from ringing rounds and call changes to beginning to ring methods. 

To get the most from this course you need to be able to:

  • Handle different bells safely and competently unaided
  • Hear/listen for your bell and attempt to adjust your striking accordingly
  • Be able to ring rounds and call changes accurately
  • Have experience of ringing on bells with differing tenor weight and length of rope draught to your home tower

27th and 28th October 2017 - Two Day Course - Getting to Grips with Grandsire

This course is designed for those people who want to progress from ringing Plain Hunting to learning Grandsire Doubles/Triples on an inside bell.

To get the most from this course you need to be able to:

  • Be able to hear your bell and adjust your striking accordingly
  • Ring competently on bells with differing tenor weight and length of rope draught to your home tower
  • Ring plain hunting competently on bells other than the treble
  • Ring the treble competently to Bob Doubles and/or Grandsire Doubles

27th and 28th October 2017 - Two Day Course - Plain Bob Doubles

This course is designed for those people who want to progress from ringing plain hunting to learning Plain Bob Doubles on an inside bell.

To get the most from this course you need to be able to:

  • Hear your bell and adjust your striking accordingly
  • Ring competently on bells with differing tenor weight and length of rope draught to your home tower
  • Ring plain hunting competently on bells other than the treble
  • Ring the treble competently to Bob Doubles and/or Grandsire Doubles
  • Understand the concept of counting places

27th and 28th October 2017 - Two Day Course - Ringing and Conducting Stedman Triples

This course is designed for those people who want to learn to ring/conduct Stedman.

To get the most from this course you need to be able to:

  • Be able to hear your bell and adjust your striking accordingly
  • Ring competently on bells with differing tenor weight and length of rope draught to your home tower
  • Ring and call touches of Grandsire Doubles/Triples competently on an inside bell

27th and 28th October 2017 - Two Day Course - Starting Surprise

This course is designed for those people who want to learn to ring Surprise Minor/Major

To get the most from this course you need to be able to:

  • Be able to hear your bell and adjust your striking accordingly
  • Ring competently on bells with differing tenor weight and length of rope draught to your home tower
  • Be able to adjust the speed of your bell at both handstroke and backstroke
  • Ring different Plain Minor/Major competently
