Sussex have won the Essex Trophy South Eastern Counties 10-Bell striking competition for the second year in a row. The competition was held in Horsham, and our team was made up with ringers from across the county.
The judges commented:
"This was an excellent piece of ringing which we really enjoyed listening to. There was a super rhythm and the band achieved sustained periods of, effectively approaching, faultless ringing with only minor inconsistencies throughout the whole piece."
The trophy was presented to the Sussex team by local MP Jeremy Quin.
The Essex Trophy was founded in 1979 and Sussex won the first competition. We've since won it a further 8 times and we are now tying with Guildford Diocesan Guild for the most wins in the series with 9 wins for each association.
In 2019 the competion will be hosted by Middlesex at Southgate. Can we maintain our winning streak and take the lead in 2019 to become the first association to win the trophy 10 times?
