I'm sure many of you will have heard about Julie McDonnell's tremendous fund raising event on 25 June 2016 walking the historic Pilgrims Way from Wye to Canterbury Cathedral ringing at all the churches along the route. Many churches globally showed their support by ringing for the event too. Julie suffers from Leukaemia and was raising money and awareness for the Anthony Nolan Register and Bloodwise.

Central Council Review Action Group - Can YOU help?

The Central Council aims to promote the art of change ringing, and is the representative body for all who ring bells in the English tradition. The Council's primary role is to provide support and services to bellringers. However, the CC has been criticised for being out of touch with the average bellringer.

The CC wants to address these issues, with a new Action Group to undertake a detailed review of the its activities, and make recommendations for modernisation. They would like 5 non-CC members, 5 current CC members and 5 recently ex-members to form the group.

On 26 April Heritage Open Days announced that for this year’s September festival, Heritage Open Days have joined forces with the Central Council of Church Bell Ringers to open up the heritage hidden inside England's bell towers and bring to life the 400-year old tradition of English-style bell ringing.
